Lyndsey Charnock and Nick Flynn from Canada Life UK, recently presented at the Later Life Lending Summit. They discussed the Life100+ research which addresses the global shift toward longer lifespans. Read more about their presentation below.
The global demographic shift is well underway, and our Life100+ research aims to explore how we can best approach and prepare for the longer years, ensuring that we’re set to make the most of our improved longevity.
We believe it’s necessary to begin a conversation centered on what Life100+ may mean given the global trend and subsequent demographic shift in the UK. We aim to discover how advisers, the financial services industry, and policymakers can all contribute to making our longer lives as happy, fulfilling, and positive as possible.
We’ve gained compelling insights into how people currently feel about their lives and how priorities evolve over time. But while there are considerable advantages that could arise from increased longevity, we’ve seen that many of us haven’t given much thought to our later years.
Given the prospect of a longer life – and even of reaching the 100-year milestone – we’ll need to take the necessary time to rethink how we plan for the future: practically, financially, and emotionally.
At Canada Life UK, we’re building stronger, more secure, and inclusive futures for our retirement, investment, and protection customers.
We hope to play an active role in supporting families throughout their working years and into retirement, helping them make the most of life. We want people to feel more in control, optimistic, and prepared to embrace the positives the additional years may offer.
