Council member Neil Reynolds has met with MP Nick Thomas-Symonds to explain how he was supporting customers during the pandemic and the benefits of equity release.
During an online meeting Neil from Welsh firm Reynolds Financial Limited told the Shadow Home Secretary and MP for Torfaen, how the industry has moved to desktop valuations and the option of remote independent legal advice, due to the pandemic.
In addition, Neil explained the benefits of modern equity release to the MP and set about busting some of the myths that have dogged the industry.
Neil said: “It was wonderful that Mr Thomas-Symonds took the time to meet with us to understand more about our business and how we serve our clients during this most difficult of times.
“I know that constituents are making many calls on his time at the moment so we really appreciate his commitment to doing all he can to support local businesses.
“Many people are predicting big things for the equity release market over the coming months and years and it is vital that decision makers as well as customers understand what the product can offer and how much it has changed in recent years.”
The meeting follows the launch of a new Council initiative aimed at encouraging and supporting Council members to engage with their local MPs.
Chair David Burrowes said: “The Council work closely with ministers, shadow ministers, MPs, Whitehall officials, special advisers and a wide range of regulatory and stakeholder bodies, to support our members.
“We have built up solid working relationships across all these fields, but we are always looking to do more both, as the trade body and in partnership with our members.”
