Modernising Home Buying & Selling – Data, Digitalisation & Leasehold Reform

This 90-minute Chatham House debate will explore the government’s recently announced plans to modernise home buying and selling, focusing on data access, digitalisation, and leasehold reform. The discussion will examine what is required for successful implementation, the impact on transaction times and stakeholder certainty, the business and income opportunities these changes may create, and potential challenges to be addressed.

The debate will be chaired by Victoria Hartley, Client Services Director at Square 1 Media, and will feature a panel of industry leaders:

  • Esther Dijkstra, Managing Director of Intermediaries at Lloyds Banking Group
  • John Baguley, Principal at UK Finance
  • Seb Murphy, Group Director at JLM Mortgage Services
  • Esther Morley, Executive Director at ColCap UK
  • Paul Albone, Non-Executive Director, Open Property Data Association (OPDA)

The event will begin with registration and a buffet lunch at 1:00 PM in the Benjamin Franklin Room, followed by the panel debate in the Great Room at 2:00 PM. The session will include a Q&A segment, providing an opportunity to engage directly with the speakers on the future of home buying and selling in the UK.
